Training 2018 | Research Methodologies in Geography

CEG-IGOT, in collaboration with Finisterra, promoted the Workshop Research Methodologies in Geography.

The workshop was aimed at young researchers aiming to develop different approaches to research methods and design in social sciences, in particular, in human geography.

The session discussed mixed methodologies combining quantitative and qualitative techniques in advanced research and offered guidelines on incorporating new information and communication technologies in research design.

The main speakers were Margot Mecca and Eduard Sala Barceló.

Margot Mecca presented the session “Investigating adolescent nightlife in Barcelona”, covering some qualitative methods, online visual methods (web-doc, klynt), critical cartography and mind maps.

Eduard Sala Barceló, with the presentation “Housing Crisis and Help Networks. The cases of Barcelona and Lisbon ” set the tone for the analysis of ethnographic research techniques of participant observation, using a Systematic Quantitative Literature Review and Egonet (personal support networks).
