Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by inflammation and obstruction of the airways, with a high prevalence and impact on the life of the child, the family, and the community. still incipient form.

Objective: To map the existing evidence on the effects of implementing Respiratory Rehabilitation programs in children with asthma between 6 and 12 years old.

Methods: A systematic review based on the principles advocated by the Joanna Briggs Institute. Studies published between January 2015 and July 2020 in different databases were searched. Two independent reviewers carried out the relevance analysis of the articles, the extraction, and the final synthesis of data from 5 articles.

Results: The studies essentially included two components of Respiratory Rehabilitation: physical activity and aerobic exercise. The benefits of the programs focused mainly on asthma control, lung function, and the quality of life of the child and family.

Conclusion: The benefits of RR in children with asthma are evident, with emphasis on lung function, symptom control, and quality of life. The design and implementation of new RR programs will make a valuable contribution to promoting people's health and quality of life.
