Hábitos alimenticios y salud mental de los estudiantes en la educación superior

Resumen

Introducción: Uno de los principales cambios en la vida de los estudiantes es la transición a la educación superior. Algunos síntomas de estrés y depresión son muy comunes en esta etapa, lo que tiene un impacto negativo en las funciones cognitivas y su salud mental, afectando su comportamiento alimenticio.

Objetivos: Analizar la influencia de los hábitos alimenticios en la salud mental de los estudiantes de la enseñanza superior.

Métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica integradora, cuya selección de estudios, con fecha de publicación entre 2014-2020, se realizó en las bases de datos: Scielo, Medline® (vía PubMed®), y LILACS® (vía EBSCO) y RCAAP - Open Access Scientific Repositories of Portugal. De un total de 9 artículos que surgieron inicialmente de la investigación, el corpus de revisión consistió en 4 artículos.

Resultados: Se demostró que existe una relación entre la salud mental y los hábitos alimenticios de los estudiantes de educación superior, así como una influencia de los hábitos alimenticios en su salud mental. Los estudiantes con altos niveles de estrés, ansiedad y síntomas más depresivos tienden a tener hábitos alimenticios poco saludables.

Conclusión: Se deberían promover programas para ayudar a los estudiantes a adaptarse al contexto de la enseñanza superior y promover comportamientos alimentarios saludables, proporcionándoles más conocimientos sobre la salud.
