Hábitos alimentares e saúde mental dos estudantes do ensino superior

Resumo

Introdução: Uma das principais mudanças de vida dos estudantes é a transição para o ensino superior. Alguns sintomas de stresse e depressão são muito comuns nessa fase, o que tem impacto negativo nas funções cognitivas e na sua saúde mental, afetando o seu comportamento alimentar.

Objetivos: Analisar a influência dos hábitos alimentares na saúde mental dos estudantes do ensino superior.

Métodos: Realizou-se uma revisão integrativa da literatura, cuja seleção dos estudos, com data de publicação entre 2014-2020, foi feita em bases de dados: Scielo, Medline® (via PubMed®), e LILACS® (via EBSCO) e RCAAP - Repositórios Científicos de Acesso Aberto de Portugal. De um total de 9 artigos que, inicialmente, emergiram da pesquisa, o corpus da revisão ficou constituído por 4 artigos.

Resultados: Foi demonstrado que existe uma relação bidirecional entre a saúde mental e os hábitos alimentares dos estudantes do ensino superior. Os estudantes com elevado nível de stresse, ansiedade e mais sintomas depressivos tendem a ter hábitos alimentares pouco saudáveis.

Conclusão: Devem ser promovidos programas para ajudar os estudantes a adaptarem-se ao contexto do ensino superior e promover comportamentos alimentares saudáveis, dotando-os de mais literacia em saúde.
