La emergencia del glamping: una investigación bibliográfica

Resumen

Introducción: Glamping es una palabra compuesta por las palabras "glamorous" y "camping". Dada su conexión con el mundo rural, puede considerarse una estrategia de desarrollo rural, a la vez que contribuye a la satisfacción de un segmento sustancial del mercado que busca un contacto más cercano con la naturaleza. A pesar de su relevancia, aún no se ha realizado un estudio bibliométrico que aclare cuestiones esenciales sobre el tema.

Objetivo: Proporcionar información sobre el alcance de la investigación y su evolución, los principales autores y afiliaciones, las fuentes utilizadas para la publicación, los países analizados, los temas de investigación y las metodologías empleadas.

Métodos: Investigación bibliométrica realizada en la base de datos Scopus. Para ello se utilizó la palabra «glamping», centrándose en los trabajos que incluían el término en el título, el resumen o las palabras clave. Posteriormente, se limitó a los trabajos publicados en revistas o conferencias. Dado que seis trabajos no estaban directamente relacionados con el turismo, se eliminaron. El análisis de los resultados se basó en estadísticas descriptivas y se complementó con VosViewer.

Resultados: La mayoría de los documentos aparecieron después de 2020, lo que revela la novedad de la investigación sobre el tema. De una lista de 114 autores, solo tres presentaron tres artículos y ocho dos, lo cual es comprensible dada la novedad de esta modalidad de turismo. Portugal y China son los principales países de investigación. Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism, Sustainability, International Journal of Tourism Research y Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management son las principales revistas de publicación.

Conclusión: El glamping se configura como un campo de investigación reciente, con mayor producción científica en Portugal y China. La literatura se centra principalmente en la oferta, mientras que, desde la demanda, predominan los estudios sobre las características psicológicas de los turistas. Persisten vacíos relevantes, especialmente en relación con el perfil de los emprendedores y el arraigo territorial de esta modalidad turística, lo que señala líneas para futuras investigaciones.
