Portugal is one of the European countries with one of the highest prevalence rates of diabetes, with diabetic foot being one of the most serious complications.
The present scoping review aims to identify nursing strategies that promote self-care to type 2 diabetic person and identify nursing interventions in diabetic foot prevention.
Using scientific and unpublished databases, it is after defining the research strategy and limiters, the data were crossed and the articles were selected through Prisma 2009 Flow Diagram.
The results suggest that systematic screening of diabetic foot leads to a marked decrease in the number of lower limb amputations, obtaining evident health gains.
This review emphasizes the importance of the literature in diabetes as a link bridge to prevent the increase and progression of the disease.
