Guidelines for Reviewers

Thanking you for your review work, we kindly ask our reviewers to consider the following points, which may facilitate this task and are equally important in enhancing Finisterra's editorial profile and its recognition by the scientific community:

1) Adherence to ethical principles in the publication of scientific work;

2) Quality of the manuscript;

3) Finisterra's editorial mission.

1. If you suspect plagiarism, fraud, or if the submitted materials raise any other ethical concerns, please report them to the Direction, the Executive Editors Committee, or the Responsible Editor. The use of search engines can help detect the improper submission of texts or other supposedly original elements, regardless of whether the manuscript review process includes a plagiarism detection tool (similarity check).

The Reviewer must treat all submitted materials (text, figures, tables) and review content as confidential documents, which cannot be disclosed or shared without the knowledge and consent of Finisterra and the Authors.

2. When evaluating the quality of the manuscript submitted via the journal platform:

  • complete the evaluation form;

  • write your review, including a brief summary of the manuscript, stating your overall impression of its interest and suitability for Finisterra; whether it contains innovative aspects or results that contribute to knowledge. This general assessment is particularly useful to the Journal;

  • provide specific and clearly indicated suggestions and comments for the Authors (with page, paragraph, line) concerning corrections, modifications, additions, or deletions in the text or other elements, allowing authors to easily identify and implement the changes (minor corrections). If major changes are recommended, please justify them briefly.

  • reviewers should avoid recommending citations of their own work, except in cases of high relevance.

3. The recognition of Finisterra’s editorial visibility is measured by bibliometric indicators, which are essential for maintaining and promoting the journal in international scientific impact indices.
