The article aims to analyze the importance of promoting physical activity in children in Community Nursing. The study was carried out in a Care Unit in the Community and was based on the intervention of 15 children from the 1st cycle of basic education. As a theoretical framework, I chose Betty Neuman's theoretical perspective. As a methodology I used the stages of Health Planning. Two nursing diagnoses were identified: the group with overweight and the group with obesity. Thus, it became essential to develop a project to promote the practice of physical activity, in which various strategies and activities were carried out. The intervention was planned and developed, based on the scientific evidence identified from the health planning and from a Scoping Review. The elaboration of the project contributed to the recognition of the importance of health promotion as well as to the development of specialized skills in community nursing.
