Digital preservation policy
Finisterra uses Open Journal Systems (OJS 3.2.1.4), a free open-source system for the administration and publication of journals, developed with support and distribution by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) under the GNU General Public License. PKP is a multi-university initiative that develops (free) open-source software and conducts research to improve the quality and reach of academic publishing. OJS contains the PKP PN plugin, a mean to preserve journal content on the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) that digitally preserves OJS journals. The PKP PN ensures that periodicals that are not part of any other digital preservation service can be preserved for long-term access. PKP allows editors of OJS scientific journals to digitally preserve their content in a decentralized and distributed way. This means that if a journal stop being published or become offline, there will be a way to have long-term continuous access to articles and issues (preservation for long-term access).
