Oral communication, which is traditionally the articulation of several decontextualized activities relating to oral comprehension, oral production, and oral interaction, can also benefit from contextualized activities. Thus, this study deals with the question of school ritual in favor of the contextualization of oral expression in the French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classroom. It is based on the description of teaching practices implemented in the classroom in order to understand the act of contextualization carried out through oral ritual activities in the FLE classroom. The results obtained through the ethnographic method clearly show that these practices, although they have several functions, can really constitute a major lever that can further support the development of oral competence by mobilizing the internal and external contexts of the pupils. With this in mind, the aim of this contribution is to highlight avenues for reflection with the aim of structuring this practice, which is carried out randomly, in order to reconsider the concepts of trainers and teachers with regard to these ritualized oral activities.
