CreativeLab_Sci&Math is a didactic initiative of the department of Mathematical and Natural sciences of the Higher School of Education of Santarém that aims to innovate pedagogical practices in Higher Education. It intends to develop several skills in students, such as scientific, technical, and technological knowledge, critical and creative thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills, through their involvement in interdisciplinary tasks that relate the contents and processes of knowledge construction of Mathematics and Science. The work dynamics are based on:
- In the curricular articulation between curricular units of the two areas;
- Elaboration of proposals of hands-on, minds-on work or work using digital education resources, defining common and specific learning objectives for each area;
- Implementation of these proposals in innovative, educational environments;
- Assessment of students’ learning and of the teaching process to promote their school process and the improvement of the interdisciplinary pedagogical practices of teachers.
This collaborative process influenced by curricular flexibility, results in the production and share of educational resources for the teaching of Mathematical and Sciences to teachers in online platforms, with peer review, such as the Casa das Ciências®. CreativeLab_Sci&Math assumes collaboration with teachers and researchers from other institutions associated with the production of science or scientific divulgation, with the purpose of aggregating specialised knowledge leading to the elaboration of educational resources with a high scientific quality and didactic innovation. The collaborative work also promotes the scientific and didactic updating of teachers.
